A well-known Baton Rouge area franchisee has reportedly sold 26 McDonald’s restaurant locations to a different investor. Franchises are a great way to become a part of a larger business opportunity that allows for investment and growth in a more well-known brand or company.

Owning a franchise has its positives and negatives but one attractive incentive for many would-be franchisees is a lower risk investment than would be involved in starting a business from scratch. McDonald’s is known for being one of the most successful franchises to date, and what once started as a few locations has grown into a household name and global brand.

While the monetary specifications and the exact locations have not yet been specified, 26 locations owned by the seller were part of the commercial real estate deal. Beyond the real estate itself, the businesses will continue usual operations and customers will notice no change in ownership. The new buyer has been a McDonald’s franchisee since 1972. Before this purchase, the company had 20 locations in Louisiana.

It sounds like the franchises will stay within a family business and all employees are to expect normal operations and be retained. The previous owner had planned a remodeling project that the new owners plan to continue as part of their ownership responsibilities. Officials for the new owners said the majority of the remodeling should be finished by the end of 2019, although a few rebuilds won’t happen until the end of 2021.

The buyers are reportedly excited for what the expansion in their franchising will look like for their business and for their employee’s growth potential. Franchising is a great way to get into owning your own business. While there are upsides and downsides, McDonald’s is one of the prime examples of a great franchise.
